“Amida is always with us and will not abandon us.
We are forever in the embrace of Buddha’s love.”
- Hozen Seki

Please join us for our first online book discussion since COVID-19 of The Great Sound of Enlightenment by Rev. Hozen Seki, founder of the New York Buddhist Church (1938) and the American Buddhist Study Center (1951). The Great Sound of Enlightenment was Rev. Seki’s last book he wrote 1989; he leaves us with one final work for his students and seekers of Pure Land Buddhism. Here he writes about two sutras which come from the Larger Sukhavativyuha Sutra (Dai Muryoju Kyo). The San Butsu Ge and the San Sei Ge, which are two of the most popular sutra chants in the Jodo Shinshu tradition.
Hoshina Seki will read excerpts from the book which demonstrate Rev. Seki’s connection with these sutras.
Following the discussion, you will have the opportunity to ask questions or make comments online.
