Great Natural Way is by Rev. Hozen Seki, founder of the New York Buddhist Church and one of the real pioneers of Shin Buddhism in the United States. The book is a treasure trove of Rev. Seki’s Dharma wisdom collected by his students. It is an excellent guide to living the Buddhist life in a contemporary setting.

This course was created by recorded video from a book discussion led by Gary Shobo Jaskula, Tokudo Minister’s Assistant. Older members already know how inspirational Rev. Seki’s teachings were, and newer ones are in for a delightful surprise.

Gary Shobo Jaskula
Gary Shobo Jaskula is a Minister’s Assistant with Tokudo Ordination serving the New York Buddhist Church and the Albany Buddhist Sangha.

Beginning in 2001 he studied in the local lay-teacher program started by late Rev. Dr. Taitetsu Unno. He became an official BCA certified Minister’s Assistant in 2007, helping the resident ministers in various capacities.

He attended Buddhist Studies classes regularly at the CBE-BCA MAP in Berkeley and at Eastern District MAP sessions. Gary received Tokudo Ordination in Kyoto at the Nishi Hongwanji in 2012.

He supports the work of Rev. Earl Ikeda by leading services, meditation sessions and classes, as needed. Additionally, he is a board member of the American Buddhist Study Center and, supporting Hoshina Seki, leads programs and book discussions on various general Buddhist and Jodo Shinshu subjects.
